DNS name resolutions suddenly fails

I am running XP Home. And all of a sudden DNS fails. I
have not installed any new programs nor am I aware of a
recent virus infestation.

I surfed the web on night and the next day.IE is telling
me DNS name resolution error occured (default DNS error
page).

I can ping Internet sites based on the IP address but when
I ping off DNS I receive a name
Ping request could not find host www.microsft.com.
Please...

I have tried the netsh int IP reset C:\logfile without any
luck. Any help is appreciated.

Check your DNS client cache by running "ipconfig /displaydns" from a command
prompt. You can clear the cache by running "ipconfig /flushdns" from a
command prompt.
