In DNS is it legal to have multiple name to address combinations i.e. a name
can resolve to more than one IP address and vice versa. Is this also true
for DDNS?

Comments appreciated

A name can resolve to more than one ip address, this is used for round robin
a really weak way of load balancing. An ip address can have more than one
name, this is used in aliasing (cname) for such things as Host Headers in
IIS.
