DNS Monitor: Failed both simple & recursive test (Can I ignore it?)

I am configuring a new Win2k as DNS Server.
My network is not connected to the internet, so I configure my DNS Server as
a root server.
I deleted all Internet root servers from my root hints and replaced it with
my own DNS server.
I also created the appropriate zones, including the root "." zone.
Nslookup shows that any records I made can be resolved.
I can ping the Server using its own name or FQDN
However, when I tried simple test and recursive test from DNS monitoring
tab, both were failed.
Is it a minor or serious problem?
If it can be ignored, I will bring my DNS server into my network and start
converting my workgroup into win2k domain.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks

As long as you can resolve the records that you added, I wouldn't worry too
much about the monitoring tab results.

If you have a root zone, the recursive query would be expected to fail.
Depending on where the admin tool is running, the results are sometimes
different since the tests are inside the admin tool instead of inside the
server.

It is possible to have a functional DNS server that still fails the "simple
query" test in the monitoring tab of the server properties in the DNS
Manager snapin.

Note: Root hints and forwarders are ignored when the server has a root "."
zone.

That said, I would join one machine to the domain, make sure everything
works, and then proceed with the rest.
