DNS: modify forward lookup zone

I have a Win2k server running AD. It is the only DC on the network. the
domain name is test.net (not active on the internet) . I need to add my
isp's primary and secondary DNS servers to the forward lookup zones so the
pc's on my network will be able to resolve names on the web. (at least that
is my understanding) Howw do I do this?
I've read kb article 308201, it is very vague. I have 2 forward lookup zones
on my server (server name is test-dc) . The first zone is just a period "."
.. The second zone is called test.net. Both of type "active directory". I
connnect through a router to the internet. I can ping ip addresss but not
qualified domain names llike www.yahoo.com. Which zone do I add the DNS
server ip address to? And how?
Can someone give advice?

You need to remove the "." zone and configure forwarders to your ISP. See

just found that kb. I wasn't sure if it applied to me. Romoving a zone
sounded pretty harsh. ;-)

if your conecting thru a router and not using the win2000 to distribute the
internet then giving them your isp's dns should work fine. unless you are
wanting to setup the dns and all. it might even be a good idea to use the
isp's dns as a alternative entree in the workstations config. this would
help provide redundancy and give some protection against your win2000 server
going down and loosing everything. (althought my windows 2000 ad's havn't
really had any issue, i still don't trust a "single" microsoft server. it
seems that having a backup server is always a good idea)
 
I understand what you are saying about 'one' server.. ;-)
I've set up DNS, I'll complete it tomorrow.....
