I want to set up a DNS server for our VPN users.
I will have this DNS is the DMZ and it will not be a
Domain controller.
I need to set up SRV records so clients on VPN can login
to the domain.
I found reference to a KB article that explains these
records but it is not found.
It is Q178169.
Does anyone have any good references or ideas of doing
this?

Probably your easiest solution is to have a Secondary copy of the zone on
the DNS server in your DMZ. Just allow zone transfers from the internal
server to this server, setup the appropriate firewall rules or NAT port
remap for UDP and TCP 53.

Hope that helps.

VPN solutions are tricky at best when it relates to AD. If your AD name is
different then your external domain name, then I wouldn't see a problem.
It's when it;s the same can be trickier. Some admins or company SLAs dictate
that this info NOT be on a public network, such as what you're planning. In
this case, a HOSTS file on each laptop/remote PC would be an alternative.
