DNS Lost Child Domain Info

I have a child domain whose DNS was setup according to
the MS Article 255248, by delegating the name space to it
for operation. That went fine, and all has worked well.
However, the root has now lost the attributes of that
child name space. There are no _msdcs, _sites, _tcp, or
_udp directories on the root any longer under the childs
name space, even though they still exist on the child's
DNS.

How can I get the root DNS to repopulate that info from
the child. It appears that replication of DNS info
failed about a month ago. And has been discovered as we
were trying to prep the domain for Exchange 200x and had
issues talking with the schema master in the forest root.

I am not even sure where to begin yet. Any ideas on how
to proceed?

Thanks.

DNS does not replicate between domains in Win2k, if you want the Child
members to register in the zone on the parent DNS you will need to add the
parent DNS to TCP/IP properties on the child members and DCs.

Lost it? Nah, that's default behavior. When you delegated it, you told it
some other DNS server will handle the zone, so hence everything disappears
and the folder grays out. If you need to get to it from the parent, the
delegation will tell it where to go.

Make sure you set a forwarder from the child to the parent DNS server.
