DNS issues?

Robert

Greetings all,

Here's an issue that I've been fumbling with off and on for a while.

We have two domains:
serverA.abc.com
and
server-B.abc.com

These are Windows 2000 Server running SP4 and SP3 (SP3 on
server-B.abc.com).

Trust relationship works fine between the servers, and I can share a
directory on a server to a user that resides on a different domain
(e.g. shareing a directory on server-B.abc.com to a user on
serverA.abc.com) and vice-versa

However, if I try sharing a directory on a workstation (windows 2000)
from either domain to someone else on the other domain, I get the
following:

"Cannot display objects from this location because of the
following error:

No authority could be contacted for authentication"

I'm not sure what I should be looking at since sharing directories on
the servers themselves work fine when I navigate the user list for
either domain, yet on the workstations I cannot browse the user list
for the other domain.

I have a primary and secondary dns entry on my workstation for my DNS
server in each domain and I added the DNS suffix of each domain to my
workstation settings as well (in the DNS tab).

Any guidence would be greatful.

Thanks,
Robert

Robert,

I have a question for you as it looks like you do not have two domains based
on the example that you gave us - you simply have two servers in the ABC.COM
domain. Do you have two domains, both having the dns domain name abc.com?
What are their respective NetBIOS names?

Cary
