Windows 2000 Adv Server, X2...

We have 2 Advanced servers running on our network with a mix of 2000 Pro and
XP pro clients.

DNS resolution seems to be extremely slow, IP addresses will go straight
through.

Neither server is set up for Active Directory, but I believe this should not
be a problem.

Any advice on this ?

Thanks

You said that these two servers were not set up for AD, but I'm assuming
that they are in a domain and that this is not a workgroup environment. You
need to have some win2k machine in that domain running dns, as that is what
they'll want to use for name resolution by default. The can use netbios but
much prefer dns.
More info about the network would help
