About half of the workstation here cant get to the net through their browser
and the other half can. I checked the event view on the DC's and see
nothing. I can ping outside of our network on a workstation that is having
this issue and it works fine. Any suggestions as to what it could be? I
checked DNS and it seems to be up and running fine, but my experience at this
is minimal. Anything I should check? What to look for? Thanks for all the
help!

To check if that's a DNS issue, verify if the "problem" workstations
and the others are using the same DNS, also, on the "problem" WS
try running nslookup and entering some host names (www.google.com
or the like) to see if the DNS resolution is working

Well I narrowed it down. It couldnt be a DNS issue since half the
workstations worked and the other half did (they all use the same DNS). I
found out that a power cable was loose on one of our switches. When all else
fails, get back to the basics!!
Thanks for your help!

So the bad workstations can ping external names?
I am more likely to believe this is an MTU issue. Ping the gateway at your
ISP with a specific packet size and the no fragment flag set.

ping -f <ip-of-gateway-at-isp> -f 1472
Sart at 1472 because the internet MTU is 1500 - 28 byte overhead. Reduce
that number until the ping is returned, add 28 to the packet size, then set
the machine NIC to that MTU size in the registry or by using the DrTCP tool.
The DrTCP tool makes it easy and it's free. Just do an internet search for
DrTCP or go to www.dslreports.com where I found mine.

When all else fails, get back to the basics!!

You're welcome, and I agree with your "get back
to the basics", that's why I asked you to perform
that quick DNS test, that is, to exclude DNS from
the list of possible causes :-) .. when everything
other fails, try removing everything and then add
back things one at a time... until the problem comes
up again, at that point you'll have the culprit :-)
