DNS installation now on 48 hours and counting

I'm currently on a count of over 150000 and counting.
Anyone ever see this before?

Please clarify what your problem is.
I'm thinking you might be referring to your zone serial but that is only a
guess.
If it is the zone serial post back this info:
ipconfig /all
nslookup -d2
set type=all
domainname.com
Any related repetitive events in the log
 
In the "Configure Active Directory" dialogue box that
comes up after you choose all your options and normally
lasts 5-30 minutes has been running two days and shows:

Waiting for DNS installation to finish... 174535

Configuring Active Directory? Are you saying this is occuring during DCPROMO
and it's installing DNS for you?

If this is what you're talking about, kill the process, manually install
DNS, then configure the zone, updates, and point this machine only to itself
for the DNS address (don't use an ISP's), etc, then after that, run DCPROMO
without installing DNS since you already did it.
