home I have 1 server with w2k server and XP pro,, now i
had made the w2k box a domain controller and when I went
to the xp box i tried to join the domain and it told me
that it couldnt find it and maybe it might be the SRV
records. I had checked all of them and they were fine,
went to the xp box used help and had to turn on netbios
help threw services to join, now if i want to use remote
desktop or terminal services it tells me that it is busy
or unavailable to do so...............Please advise i am
lost and dont have any teacher to turn to for answers

Hi, Jeff - if you think you have a DNS problem, might want to also post in
microsoft.public.win2000.dns.

Forget about the TS problems for now and focus on basic
communication....from your workstation, can you ping the server by name and
get the fully qualified domain name returned? Can you map drives?

Note that all servers and workstations should specify the internal
AD-integrated DNS server's IP address in their network settings. The
AD-integrated DNS server should be set up with forwarders to your ISP's
public DNS servers for external resolution. (You'll need to remove the root
zone (".") first in order to enable the forwarders.) See
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300202 for more
info.
