DNS Forwarding problem

I currently have a DNS server, and it has Root Hints and Forwarding Enabled (recursive is NOT disabled)

From a Client machine I can type in an IP address and go to a web site, but when I type in the Host name (e.g. www.ZD.NET) I am told it is an Unknown host. Why are my host names not being resolved

I have Windows 2000 service pack 4 installed. I think this is when my problems started

Try running nslookup from the client to see if it can first find and connect to your
dns sever and then try to resolve a name from there at the nslookup prompt. If it
lists the correct dns server via nslookup but fails to resolve names the try
restarting the dns service on the dns server and look in Event Viewer for any
pertinent errors. Check that the dns server that you forward to still works and you
can test your dns server from the dns management console by selecting the
server/properties/monitoring and checking both tests and selecting test now. ---

I forgot to add that check that you want to check that you have network connectivity
to your dns server by pinging it. -- Steve
