Install a caching only DNS on another machine, Use that machine as a
forwarder on this machine the check the box "Do not use recursion" on the
forwarders tab.

Make sure all Domain members point only to your AD DNS server not to the
caching only server, unless the caching only server has a delegation for
your AD domain, which kind of defeats the purpose of the caching only
server.

If you only require DNS for your internal zones, for which the server is the
authoritative server, you should disable recursion (by checking the checkbox
under the Advanced tab in DNS server's properties).

Note there is nothing that says the forwarder has to be INET. It could be
an internal root server or another server up the chain or (if w2k3) a
conditional forwarder to a partner, etc. If you don't want forwarding or
root-hints, disable recursion in the advanced tab.
