I opened DNS Manager to review the properties of the DNS
settings on a W2k SP2 server with Active Directory. I
noticed a subfolder under Forward Lookup Zones called "."
I have not seen this before in other W2k DNS servers.
What does this mean? I also noticed under the
subfolder "." another subfolder carrying the FQDN. On the
right pane, the server as type "host" was identified.
However, the IP address associated with the server was
incorrect. The address belongs to the internal IP address
for the DSL router located on the LAN. Could this
discrepancy be the cause of the "." folder? Finally, when
I right-click on the server name and choose properties, I
noticed that the "Forwarders" tab is grayed out. What is
causing this?
Thank you for any suggestions you may have,
