i've upgraded the firmware on my sonicwall firewall. and now none of the
nodes go beyond the firewall. is there a file in windows 2000 server that
holds a record of the old firewall and won't trust or recognize the new
firmware? any ideas on what is causing this problem or where i can go for a
solution. thanks in advance, mike

This is NOT a DNS question.

But to try to give you a start in diagnosing, it really sounds like a
firewall issue. Firewalls are transparent to the operating systems on your
LAN. If the firmware update set everything back to default, then I can see
why it's happening. Did you save the config of your Sonicwall before
upgrading it? Did you go thru the settings to ensure your previous settings
are intact?

Also to add, why would you use your Router/Sonicwall as a DNS address in
your IP properties or as a forwarder? It won;t help with AD (makes it worse)
and if used as a forwarder, it's an extra hop and slows down resolution
performance.

From what firmware to what firmware did you upgrade? If you upgraded to
firmware 6.5.x, you need to reactive.
