On our public DNS server I am getting Event ID 1202 error:

Security policies are propagated with warning. 0x5 : Access is denid.

What should I do on this situation, this event happens in Application log,
it is full only with the same error.

Thank you very much for any reply !!!

No, my name server is not member of DC or it is not a DC so it did not have
those Group Policies setup and it doesn't have that registry entry.

Thank you !!!

I'm sorry that it didn't help you out. It was the only thing I could find on
that error, not having experienced it myself on any of my external DNS
servers hosting public content that are also not DCs or member servers, just
as yours are.

Can I ask if you had turned off any unnecessary services on your machine to
*probably* tighten up security?

FYI- Just wanted to mention, there actually is a local Group Policy on all
W2k and W2k3 machines. Turning off certain services, as per those articles,
*may* affect the local policies for the machine and just *may* cause these.
I'm just trying to extrapolate from the info at hand to help out.

Yes I did, I scanned that machine with Microsoft Security Baseline analyzer,
it told me to shut off some services and do tighten up other security holes,
like modify the registry, ykes.
That is probably the issue.

Thank you very much for reply!!!

That will do it. Review those articles for specific services that it needs.
Also, the DHCP Client service is REQUIRED for the DNS resolver to function.
The APIs are tied in and can't function if that is turned off.

If not sure what services, undo the MBSA settings and start over electing
not to turn off some services.
