Hi, I'm getting this DNS error:
============================================================================
=======================================
Event ID: 11160
The system failed to register pointer (PTR) resource records (RRs) for
network adapter
with settings:
Adapter Name : {XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXX-XXXXXXX}
Host Name : computername
Adapter-specific Domain Suffix : xyz.mycompany.com
DNS server list :
192.168.2.1
Sent update to server : 192.175.48.1
IP Address : 192.168.2.3
The reason that the system could not register these RRs was because of a
security related problem. The cause of this could be (a) your computer does
not have permissions to register and update the specific DNS domain name set
for this adapter, or (b) there might have been a problem negotiating valid
credentials with the DNS server during the processing of the update request.
============================================================================
==============================================
The thing is that it doesn't come up often but I don't know what's wrong
when it does. This error resides in our Exchange server 2003 and talks to
the DNS server which is also the DC. DNS is AD integrated.
TIA,
Tom
