All,

I am running IE 6 with SP1. Default settings on all
Internet security settings. I have a three computer
network, two of my three computers cannot access certain
areas on a website. For example, all three of the
computers can browse no problem, but on two of them when
going into an Yahoo email account and actually trying to
open an email message, I get an "DNS Error". The other
unit works fine. The browser also bombs out with the same
message when I try to install a McAfee software program
via a web install as well. Same thing happened when I
tried to get the most recent worm patch for the Windows
operating system off the Windows update site.

I've deleted the temp files and reinstalled, etc.

Any thoughts?

James

P.S. When I tried to post this message originally, I got
a DNS Error on one of the machines that is acting up. Had
to move to the one that isn't having problems.

On the two with the problem:

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS

Or, In a Cmd window, enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear your TIF also, and re-boot.
