DNS error on IE

I'm having problems with IE 6 working (even IE 5 if I
uninstall 6). Instead of going to my home page, it suddenly
started to bring up this as a "page cannot be displayed"
with this in the downloading area as it tried to load a page:

res://c:\windows\system\shdoclc.dll/dsnerror.htm

Does anybody out there have a clue as to what this is?
I'm on a cable modem high speed internet, I know I'm
getting thru to their server A) because Netscape works, and
B) I can ping their server successfully from the DOS prompt.
Check in Internet options to make sure it's not trying to
dial a phone modem (not) and it is set up correctly as LAN,
which it should be as it's on a LAN card.

Any Ideas?
Thanks!

Kath

Problem: Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer
When I hit refresh it works fine. Even with my designated HOME page.
My Specs., Windows 2000 Pro., IE 6.0.2600, DSL, Southwestern bell

Solution:
We have been using a LAN connection for over a year and I just updated
everyone to IE 6. For some reason a lot of users were getting the "The page
cannot be displayed" error every time they opened IE instead of a home page
but were able to proceed with no problem after the first refresh.

I turns out that the "Autodial" setting in the registry was being set to
"true" even though they do not even have dialup adapters installed.

Instead of me giving the paths to the registry settings, open REGEDIT and
search for "EnableAutodial" and each place that has the value as "1" or "01
00 00 00" change it to "0" or "00 00 00 00".

If you are using a dialup then this is not for you.

How to Configure Internet Explorer to Work with AOL as Your ISP
All of a sudden I can't launch I.E. 6 to connect to the internet UNLESS I
have first connected with AOL. If AOL isn't launched and I try to do IE6 I
get this:
C:windows\system\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm If you have AOL or had it then try
this fix.

From: "Michel Desrochers" in a previous post.
I have a workstation running Win98. The IP address is correct. Netstat
results are fine. Tracert to DSB server is fine. When I type in any url I
receive "The Page Cannot be Displayed". The error at the top reads:
"RES://C:/windows/system/shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#http://www.google.com

Solution: I finally find that my problem come from a bad deinstallation of
new domain (a spyware come with Kazaa). I downloaded the uninstall program
that came from their web site and then I can access to the internet back.
It was New Net a parasite. http://www.new.net/support/uninstall4_80.exe.
Yours may be different.
