Hi there.

I've had this problem before with my new laptop with Windows Vista. I kept
getting the error message " There may be a problem with your DNS (Domain Name
Server) Configuration. Windows failed to find the well-known server
'www.microdoft.com' using DNS. The server may be down."

It was fixed last time with simply time. I went away to college for a few
months, used their network/wireless, then came home and mine magically
worked. I know it's not a problem with my router or anything because I
checked everything and did diagnostic tests and the router is 100% working.
The problem is something with Vista and this DNS. IT's not even letting me
work WIRED (or wireless for that matter), therefore I know it's not a problem
with my internet connection (already called Verizon about that). I've also
tried all the troubleshooting tips on microsoft.com and the windows vista
website. Nothing is working. I need my internet for many reasons and haven't
been able to have it via my laptop in almost two weeks. Thanks!

well thats hard because the laptop isnt letting me online so i cant copy and
paste it here because im using my desktop. im not going to type out my entire
ipconfig/all. it would take an hour. i can look/type up certain parts if that
would help.

it tells me my ip address and subnet mask, etc. it says all media BESIDES my
wireless connection is disabled (even when i plug in my wire for LAN).

i basically need to know how to fix a DNS error. all connections are fine,
my wireless strength is 100%... it's just this DNS problem. who should i even
contact about this? my ISP or vista?
