Hello everyone,

From browsing the posting around here, most would suggested using different
name for internal and external.
I just wonder if anyone knows of a link to a good source of explanation
regarding the domain name? the place I work for is a tiny company using SBS
4.5, and now I have a wonderful job of setting up Windows 2003, and
boy....is it ever difficult especially when it comes to DNS & Active
Directory...

Thanks
TT

Considering Ace just posted this information 28 minutes before you
asked, browse back through the posts or use Google to retrieve the
groups archive. It only gets disucssed a few dozen times a month.

Choosing an internal name is 100% personal preference, I suggest that if you
do not fully understand the repercussions of using the same internal name as
your external name then you should not.
I suggest you use a different internal name, you can use anything like
lan.mycompany.com or mycompany.lan, or .local, .corp, or .anything. The
important thing is DO NOT use mycompany without a ".something" after your
name.

I don't really think this is personal preference. I think it comes
from experience. Make them different!! That's my personal preference

So Scott, you just said it's your personal preference to make them
different! So it is a personal preference!
