Hi, I have had this issue and fixed it two times before. One day users with
active desktop could not see their desktops when they login. the only way to
get by this hang-up was to unplug the network cable and plug it back in, or
to disable the active desktop on the client computer. Another strange issue
is that on a few machines when you tab in an outlook contact it freezes up
and you need to end task. When we shut down our DHCP server and set it up on
a clean server it all goes away. We have done this twice and don't want to
do it for a third time. There is about six months of time before it happens
again. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks,
Kyle

Both of these issues combined seems to indicate a network connectivity issue
which is resulting in a resolution issue. I do not know your topology or
network setup, or whetehr you inadvertenly used your ISP's DNS addresses in
your client and other internal machines' IP properties or DHCP scope (which
can cause all of this). If you would like to provide more detailed info,
that can help. Start with an ipconfig /all of a DC and one of your clients
and describe your network please, and any Event ID errors would help as
well.

This can all be attributed to a bad wire on the DNS server as well. Outlook
is trying to resolve the name in the GAL for you, so hence a resolution
issue, and why I believe you have DNS misconfigured on the clients.
