DNS / AD setup issue

A remote office that I have recently started supporting was setup with a domain name of abc.org. The only DC is named machine.abc.com. DNS is hosed because of this. I am trying to install a new server to share responsibilities with the original, but I am unbale to run dcpromo because of the DNS issues. I am considering creating a new DNS structure on the new machine and then re-creating the abc.org domain on it. Could I then use the ADMT to move accounts over from the old domain

Thanks
Chris

So the domain name is abc.org and the Primary DNS suffix is abc.com?
You can fix this with the script on this KB article.
257623 Domain Controller's Domain Name System Suffix Does Not Match Domain
Name

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me how reliable this fix is and if their are any concerns in using it? (I'm afraid I could end up having to restore from backups if it doesn't go well.

Thanks again

It's reliable 100% fix.
You just double click on the script and follow the screen prompts to change
the suffix then restart the computer.
