DNS 414 Error on Domain Controller in Active Directory

I recently rebuilt the first domain controller in my AD and put it back on
the network. Everything appeared to be fine except that in the process, it
lost its primary domain suffix. Since it's a domain controller, there's no
way for me to add this information back in. Consequently, I keep logging DNS
414 errors. This is causing other problems with other mail systems, so I'd
like to get it fixed ASAP. Any thoughts?

Common mistake...
We used to hord a script to do this for these special occasions, but
Microsoft finally released it.... here it is

257623 - Domain Controller's Domain Name System Suffix Does Not Match Domain

Hi William, hope you didn't think that my statement was too harsh. We didn't
give the script out to anyone before that article was published just so to
insure that the specific circumstances warranted the use of the script. In
Reed's case, with what he provided, it seemed appropriate.

Thanks for the suggestion. This is exactly what I'm looking for...I'll give
the script a shot this evening.

Very good. Just a note Reed, the script is harmless, have tested and used it
numerous times in demos and on client sites that have called me with
problems and noticed their Primary DNS Suffixes are missing. It will take
about 20 seconds to run, then require a re-boot thereafter.

Just want to ask one question, is your AD DNS domain name a single label
name, such as "domian" or is it of the proper format of "domain.com"?

Thanks

It's the proper format of domain.com

And the script worked like a charm. Thanks so much for your help with this!
It shows up perfectly in all of the records, all the DNS errors have gone
away and I can finally sync up the domain like a charm.
