DMI Pool Data Verification hang-up

COmputer hangs at "DMI Pool Data Verification" before OS i
initialized. After 5 - 8 resets, it offers to open in safe mode.
Clicking "normal" gives an ok boot. I would like to fi
this DMI Pool hang before upgrading from Win98 to WinXP. :
