I have a fairly new P4 Intel original Mobo based system, which worked fine for 2 months, though i had to re-install Windows quite sometimes till i got a good UPS.. :p Now, suddenly, the OS crashed, and I get an error "DMBOOT.sys is corrupted, press any key to restart" when ever I try to re-install windows. I've even done a Low Level Formatting of my HDD and tried using 2 different Win XP cds.. but can't get to work..!! :( pls help me ASAP..! help appreciated..! (e-mail address removed) jsmonu at gmail do' com..! thanks.

I had exactly the same problem after doing a low-level formatting (with MHDD).
Try to boot with some livecd linux distro, use fdisk on that hard drive and then mkfs.ntfs on the new partition.
Worked for me, at least.

Cheers,
misczu
