Hi there,
Is there a way to see and enable DMA access on the hard drives in
Windows 2000 Professional? Thanks a lot, Calin

Open the Device Manager (Start/Run, type devmgmt.msc). D-click IDE controllers.
D-click Primary or Secondary IDE Channel as required. Select Advanced Settings
tab. Change Transfer modes as required.

Check in the registry to see if the following values are enabled:
Go to Start button, Run, and type;
regedit (may be regedit32 or regedt32 for win 2000) and go to the following
registry keys and check that the values have the Direct Mode Access enabled.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 0\DMAEnabled set the
value to 3

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi\Scsi Port 1\DMAEnabled set the
value to 3
