I have 2 HDs connected to a single IDE channel. The master HD (OS) is
running in Ultra DMA mode. The second is running in PIO mode despite having
selected the windows option to run the drive in DMA mode if possible.
My problem is that I believe that both drives should be able to run in DMA
mode - the master is a Seagate EIDE drive (I can't check further details
right now), the other an IBM Deskstar 60GXP - which being fairly new should
be able to run in DMA - but the automatic windows settings have put it into
PIO mode - so is there anything I can do?
I haven't discovered anywhere on the IBM (Hitachi) support website yet on
how to change the settings and the jumper setting diagram on the HD itself
doesn't specify any details on this (which I think drive makers should).
Anyone know if I can change this setting? Thanks in advance.
