DMA in safemode for virus check ?

Hi!

I am running a virus scan in safemode, to prevent possible viruses to
start up*.
But in safe mode DMA is turned off, so the scan takes ages.

Is there a way to enable it ?

* - how much does safemode really prevent activation of installed
malware ?

Safe Mode is a limited version of the operating system and doesn't load some items loaded in
Normal Mode as well as some drivers. Therefore, many forms of malware will not load and be
easier to remove.

Be patient, wait out the scan.

I'm an impatient person. Will do a scan only with DMA.

For Christ's sake, this is the third millenium, how can they even ship
hardware with non-DMA operation. I guess we should feel lucky for
having more than 640 kB RAM ...

If I had patience, I'd be a Doctor :-)

Deal with it or give up the idea of using a computer !
 
You have DMA mode in normal operation. What would be the point of safe mode
if it ran all the same crap as normal mode?
 
you shoul try this, go to the start menu, and then RUN and type MSCONFIG go
to startup items and disable EVERYTHING, RESTART and try to scan, in this
mode disables all programs and possible malware hijacking tools and more,
when complete the scan go to START and RUN and MSCONFIG and enable all
again, if a virus found and fixed the item would not start again
