XP Home

in control panel, hardware , device manager under system
under direct memory access controller (DMA) ,
" no driver installed for this device" shows.

Should there be one?

DMA is set to be 'enabled', "if applicable," apparently correctly.
Primary at ultra 5 mode, secondary at multi word 2 mode.

If yes regards needing to install a driver, how and from what disc or site?

I have only one software that does not load into virtual memory and crashes.
Only this software crashes all others work fine.
Uninstalling and Reinstalling this software does not help.

One application is failing in some manner, and "does not load into virtual
memory"

What is the application. Is it unique in some way from others that work?

DMA Controller
"No drivers are installed for this device" is normal.

Windows uses built in drivers for most motherboards. A few require chipset
specific drivers to use "advanced features" or to overcome hardware design
problems. It sounds like you have a typical hard drive configuration with
normal DMA settings for one or more hard drives on the primary channel, and
one or more CD-Rom/DVD drives on the secondary channel.
