I am getting an error message on one of our computers that
says MSDASQLR.DLL is not a valid version of the file. It
resides in the \program files\common files\system\ole db
directory. I tried to overwrite it with a copy (different
creation date)from another computer, but Windows keeps
going back to the original version of the file. Is there
any way to replace this file, or am I going to have to
reinstall Window?

What's the exact message you get referencing this file? What version do you
have on your system, and what version of Microsoft Data Access Components
("MDAC") do you have installed? You may be able to update MDAC from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/dataaccess.asp
and resolve the problem. Be sure to stop any real-time anti-virus software
you may have running during the installing.

Sorry for the delayed reply. Downloading and installing
the latest version of MDAC worked perfectly. The error
went away and I noticed that the dll I was having trouble
with was one of the ones that was updated. THis solution
saved me 2+ hours of reinstalling the OS, apps, and MS
updates. Thanks again.
