I'm trying to make my WinXP Pro images as small as
possible, but about 1 gig is as small as I can get it
without removing some key applications needed by my firm.
I access the partition prior to imaging and delete the
pagefile and other stuff, and was wondering if anyone has
had sucess deleting dllcache without dire coonsequences.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hi

I believe - that if you did manage to delete that folder - it may very well be re-created next time you reboot.

I believe you're correct - I believe it will ask for the Windows XP CD
and rebuild the dllcache from that.

dllcache cannot/should not be removed. It is needed for Windows File
Protection.

That is why if you delete it, Windows will ask for the CD to reinstall
the appropriate files. Once reinstalled, you would have to reapply
Windows updates.
