My dllcache uses 446MB of memory. I would like to copy
this file to CD, delete it from the C drive, and replace
dlls from the CD when necessary. What kind of problems am
I about to get myself into?

In my mind I keep seeing: dllcache + hiberfil.sys = very,
very close to a full GB of memory.

Windows XP Home
512MB RAM
2GHz Intel Celeron
40GB Hard Drive

What kind of problems are you about to get yourself
into??? How about winxp non functional. the dll's run in
the background most all of the time. As far as I know you
cannot just pull the dll's you need off of the cd when
you need them. Winxp runs a check for the registered
dll's on the system. If if does not find those dll's you
get bsod.....

dllcache is used by the system to replace system
files...I'd recommend not touching it, 450 MB of hard
drive space is worth the hassles IMHO.

hiberfile.sys is used by the system for hibernation - if
you don't want to hibernate, you can turn this off (and
remove the file) from Control Panel->Power Options, click
the Hibernation tab.

That's incorrect, actually.
The dllcache folder is used as a cache to prevent having
to annoy the user every time a system file is detected as
having changed. You won't get a BSOD, you'll just get a
pop-up in your face.
