Hi - I just pulled a Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live Value Card out of one
of my PCs because I need the PCI slot it takes up. The onboard audio chip
will be used instead.
I've run into the XP (Pro SP1) shutdown problem described in this MSKB
article:
Windows XP Stops Responding (Hangs) During Windows Shutdown
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307274
I download and reinstalled the patch from the Windows Update Catalog - No
joy.
Then I checked out this article:
http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.php
It says to delete the DEVLDR32.EXE in the Windows/System32 folder. I've got
to tell you, that is one persistent file. It keeps getting re-created. I
even used a wiping utility on it after shutting off System Restore and
booting to Safe Mode. All Creative Labs (Software) Registry keys have been
deleted, and so have all other CL files including the one in the Start Up
folder.
There are several other Creative Labs DLLs in the System32 folder.
Question 1 - Can anyone recommend a utility that will identify unused DLLs
so I can track down all the remaining Creative Labs DLLs to delete them?
Question 2 - Any suggestions on how to delete the DEVLDR32.EXE file
mentioned in the aumha.org article?
Thanks
