I recently had a Trojan found on my 'pooter by NAV2002.It was a
Trojan.startpage, which caused my Home Page to be changed to c:windows.blank
and for about a dozen porn sites to be added to my Favourites.
Having gone through the NAV procedure it could not clean it,quarantine it or
delete it due to access being denied.Went onto their Help page but suggested
to permanently delete the file it was in (C/windows/sytem32/ctrlpan.dll) by
going into Administrator Services or MS-DOS.Tried both to no avail;Services
showed it was not listed (?!!) and,as I run XP Home,I can't get my system to
run in MS-DOS (!!!)
Finally, after scouring the Web I found Panda Titanium to try out. This worked
very well;not only did it find and delete the Trojan but it also found 6
other viruses associated with it in other directories. Why didn't NAV
discover these and do it's job?
Anyway, the big problem I have now,the Home Page still opens up on
C:windows/blank (not harmful buy frustrating as it takes ages to load even
though I'm BroadBand) but I no longer have the porn.Scanning my system has
proven clean but I no longer have the .dll file which allows me to apply and
keep my original Home Page on start up.
Have looked and searched the Web for help (M/soft,Symantec,etc) but none
give me the advice I need to get and download the relevant .dll file.Even
the XP disc has no file....or am I being stupid!
Would be hugely grateful if anyone knows the solution.
Thanx!

.
I went to two different dll sites and ctrlpan.dll is not
to be found and since it is not on your cd it most likely
was part of the hijacker.
I suggest that you install hijack this and scan your
system with it copy the results with note pad and post
them in the forum at
