I have a new IBM Thinkpad T30 with XP Professional. I
can burn CD's with the CD drive installed. However
when I use my new XP-Home addition, It will not show me
the files.

The screen says that I may need to enable the DLA
feature as this is why I cannot view the CD on my home
computer.

How do I enable DLA on my Windows XP Home system?

DLA is packet writing software from www.stompinc.com it is packaged with
RecordNow Max and Click n Burn and can not be purchased separately. However
some vendors, HP in particular, provide it with their systems. DLA is
similar to Direct CD or InCD. If you burn files to CD-R or CD-R/W with DLA
and you do not finalized the CD then the disk can't be read on another
system unless the DLA (or another type of UDF Reader) is installed.

DLA is a third party program (by Veritas) for burning 'packet written'
UDF CD-RW disks. It is good, but the only way I know to get it for XP
is by buying the RecordNow Max Platinum box set from www.stompinc.com,
unless you have an HP drive for which there is a free download.

You should be able though to *read* the disks using either UDF Reader
from www.adaptec.com or www.roxio.com or EasyWrite Reader from
www.nero.com

For transfer of files though I would use a 'mastering' type program to
burn the files in a batch. If the IBM has DLA it probably has the Lite
Record Now to do this
