I've been asked to design a website for a friend.
Never done it before, so not sure how to.
Any good books, sites or free software to look at?
Cheers in advance:thumb:

what sort of website?
is it just a few pages of static content, or will you be managing lots of pages?
do you need any special features?

depending on the complexity of your content/ideas there are numerous solutions to make thigns easier for you.
If you let me know a few more details about what you want to do, then I'll try to point you in the right direction. (Feel free to PM me if you dont want to post your full site description here) I do quite a bit of bedroom website designing so would be glad to help.

I am not a programmer, but have several sites I made (for work) with Publisher 2002. This is very user freindly if you are a novice.

The software allows you to design page by page and add images etc, without knowing or using HTML

If you have Office 2000 or Office 2002 then youu should have a version of Publisher.

Once you have a site made and saved you then need to get it up on the web - thats another story, but happy to help when you get there.

Regards
DB

I use front page with office ..again its very user friendly :thumb:

My friend instead used a package to design the website the hosting company offered free.
So my skills were not needed.:(

I use Dreamweaver 3 but any similar WYSIWYG programme should do the trick.

I used Dreamweaver to produce my genealogy site on www.geocities.com/cguil_uk
