When I try to create a distribution list, I click on 'add members' and it
brings up my contacts in alphabetical order by FIRST name. How can I bring up
that list by LAST name. (My contacts ARE filed correctly)???

You just need to set the sort order for the Outlook Address Book correctly.
If you don't know how to do that, post your Outlook version.

Hi - I have the same problem. I'm using Outlook 2000. I have pre-existing distribution lists listing the contacts by first name - but when I changed the settings of my address book to last name, first name it didn't change the order of the pre-existing distribution lists. Please help. Thanks.

Right. You can't change it for DL's created in other versions or even other
profiles.
You can try changing the Subject field for those Contacts and see it that
works.

Thanks for answering. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by changing the subject field for the contacts. Just to clarify, the distribution lists were created in Outlook 2000 and I am still using Outlook 2000, I just want to be able to change the display names for what I have already entered. So far the only way I have found to change the display names to lastname, firstname is by going into the properties of each individual contact under 'name' and changing the display name using the drop down menu of options provided. Is there any way that all the display names can be changed at once without going through each name individually? And if not, is there any later version of Outlook that will allow me display the contact names in distribution lists by lastname, firstname without so much trouble? Thanks for your help.
