Quick question,

I have several categories under "Contacts". What I
would like to do is to be able to take one of the
category groups and make a Distribution List from it.
The problem is that I can not seem to do this when I have
over 50 contacts. Is there a limit to number of contacts
that a Distribution List can contain? I am working on
Outlook 2000 with an Exchange 2000 server as a backend.

Thanks in advance,

I had this question today as well. I figured out a way to
do it, but this isn't what I do for a living, so please
don't ask for better details:

1. You have a bunch of contacts that you've assigned a
category to. Ex: BookClub
2. You want to send them all an email, so you want to make
a distribution list. I couldn't find any obvious way to
do this, so I did the following.
3. In the Contacts view "Phone List", I have my contacts
sorted into their categories.
4. Highlight the line that says the category. In the menu
item, choose Edit - Copy to Folder
5. Select New (if you haven't already made one) and type
in the name for your new (temporary) folder: BookClub.
Make sure you see where the folder is being made, in
Contacts. Choose OK.
6. If you go and look, you will see all those people in
that category now in their own folder in Contacts.
7. Make a Distribution list within this new folder. Now
it should be easier because now you can just
choose/highlight everyone in that folder.
8. If you want, you can move the distribution list back
with the rest of your contacts & delete the new folder (as
long as it was only a copy of what is still in your main
contacts folder).

Hope this isn't too unclear.

Hey Cathy...

That was very clear. I appreciate the quick
response. The problem I am having now is when I go to do
this I receive a message that I have reached the maximum
number of recepients that can be placed in the DL. It
seems to be around 50 contacts per DL. I was wondering if
there was a way to increase this limit?

Thanks in advance,
Dave
