distribution lists used with rule wizard

I am trying to set up a spam filter for my daughters' PC
so that any mail not from someone in their address books
get deleted automatically. I have done this successfully
by adding each member of the address book individually to
the except clause of the rule.

Since I use this list in several rules I would prefer to
use a DL in the rules so I only have to add new contacts
to the DL rather than every rule. When I do this however
Outlook says it doesn't allow Personal DLs in rules. My
question then is how can I make a nonpersonal DL and will
the rule be happy to use it?

Thanks in advance,
Rod.

.

The PC has Outlook 2000 (9.0.0.2711) installed

it gives me the following message in a popup window when
I try to add a DL to the except clause -

'friends' is a personal distribution list that may not be
used with this feature. Would you like to use the
individual members of 'friends' instead?

Interestingly responding yes to this does not add the
contents of the DL to the clause either...

That's too bad. Outlook 2003 will do this VERY easily.

Hmmmm....I would have expected it to add the individual names. How many
contacts are we talking about? 10? 100? 500?

the list is about 20 contacts long.

Can you help with the other part of my original question
then...can I make a nonpersonal (public?) DL and will
this work with the rule's except clause?
