Distribution List

I want to create a distribution list (which I know how to do) - the problem
is the group will contain over 200 names - I do not want to sit there
selecting 200 names to go into a distribution list. I have the 200 names
under a category called "Client". Is there a way to select those 200 names
and say "add" these names to the distribution list?

Thanks !

Why go through the trouble to create a distribution list when you can mail
them anything using new mail to category?

What is the trouble in creating a distribution list? Names are added to a
list. The list name is then used as the contact in the To: field. Seems like
standard operating procedure on any other email software to date.

How is creating an email via category any easier? What if my group wasn't in
the same category? Should I then create another category and go through all
the people that I want in a second type of group to be in that category?
Isn't that what a distribution list is for?

If the DL is so difficult to use, why is it still in the software?

DLs can be a lot of trouble to keep updated, especially since there's no way to know what contact is in which DL except by opening the DL. I recommend using them only for relatively small lists that rarely change.

Using categories to organize contacts opens the possibility of easily performing a mail merge to email, which will result in each person getting an individual message, thus more likely to get through their spam filter. Also, if you want to put someone into multiple category-lists, you make one change in one place, their contact record.

I am also trying to figure out a easy way to get everyone matching a category
into a distribution list so that I can send a mass e-mail. Your comments
indicate you can e-mail everyone in a Category. I dont want to bother with
setting up a mail merge to do it. I feel I am reasonably competant in MS
Outlook but have struggled trying to figure out how to send an e-mail to
everyone in a Category. Could you explain how I do this so I do not have to
use a DL?
