I have written a data base for a school using access 97.
I want to distribute the database (mdb file) to other
schools.

1. Can I do this if the target computer does not have
office installed.

2. Can I do this if the target computer has a different
version of office installed.

I would like to do this by sending the school a disc
which will install itself by say typing setup.exe.

I have a copy of Install Shield or do Microsoft have a
means of installing developer programs.

Yes to both questions, but you must own a copy of the 97 Developer Edition
to get the Runtime Dlls and the license to distribute. You can use the
setup wizard in the developer tools to create an install file, but it might
interfere with other versions installed on the machine. To be bullet-proof,
you need to purchase the Access 97 script from SageKey to go with your
InstallShield package. (www.sagekey.com)
