There is a feature in Windows that operates when typing in
simple information (for instance one's address) while on-
line whereby similar words and or number sequences pop-up
under the line in which I am typing. I find it highly
annoying and distracting. How can I disable this function.
Thank you,

Hi J.E.,

Perhaps you are talking about the AutoComplete feature. For more information, see
the following Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles:

KB319958 - Names of Previously Opened and Saved Files Appear in Typical
Windows Explorer-Style Dialog Boxes in Windows Me and Windows 2000

Also, as noted in KB319958 "After you complete this procedure, the MRU list does not
appear in Windows Explorer-style dialog boxes; however, this list is not removed from
the registry." For a method you can use to delete the list from the registry,
visit Jerold Schulman's site at http://www.jsiinc.com, click the hyperlink "Tips &
Tricks", and search for this JSI Tip:
