Sessons Greetings All-

Suddenly for some reason whenever I import video to my computer there is now
distortion on the right and bottom borders of the captured video (see link
for example):

http://www.box.net/shared/dgs4utck4f

I am copying old VHS-C type tapes to DVD and importating the video footage
from the DVD's with my DVD drive in my computer.

When I play the DVD's back in the player they were copied with they play
perfectly fine, but when I play the DVD in my computer there is the same
distortion, even after the captured video has been written to my hard drive.

This has now happend in the past, it has only recently started to happen as
I have used this method of transferring vdieo to my computer in the past
without error. As a matter of fact, the videos that I have captured in the
past using the very same method are no too also playing back with
distortion. It would almost seem that something is interferring with it and
I just am not able to figure out what's going on...

Could anyone help?

My operating system is Window's XP Media Center Edition with Service Pack 2
updated and I am using either the ULead Video VideoStudio SE or ArcSoft
Showbiz DVD2 or Roxio Creator 2009 or Windows Movie Maker and the same thing
is happening with either.

Hard to tell from your sample because the resolution
/ focus is not that great.

I'm thinking it is the typical distortion you see along
the edges with VHS when there is a tracking issue.
I recently copied some VHS with a VHS/DVD
Recorder and had the same issue...(some tapes
were worse than others).

Maybe it would be worth a try to experiment with
slightly cropping the video clips with the following
freeware.

As I mentioned earler, there is nothing wrong with the tapes that I am
copying. When I play the DVD back that they were copeid to in the DVD
recorder I used they play back perfectly. It's only when I import
them with either of the video editing softwares that I mentioned that
the distortion appears. Thank you for replying.
