Distortion in signal.

In the last two weeks, since my kids came home from school, my playback of cd's or I Tunes has gotten a distortion. It happens on about a 4-5 second interval and lasts less than a second. It's like a wave or a probe from something

I've closed all other apps., checked task manager; All looks ok, but I can't make this go away

All ideas welcome.
