I have had far to many problems with my recent Dell
computer. There is incompatibilty with a HP psc 2210
printer. I solved this myself by disconnecting the
printer before booting up the computer. I am unable to
simply copy from the "D" drive to computer hard disk.
methods used with previous computer/software was simple.

I became exasperated and called Dell's service number and
went throught several Bangalore India "specialists" who
were obviously reading from some technical manual whom
were totally inept. I also faced similar comfusion when
requesting at home service which I had ordered along with
the Dell computer package.

As I alone with these type problems?

Part of your problem may be your operating system as there is no Windows
2000 EP edition.

Have been running XP since beta days on my home made system and an old
Compaq laptop. Works fine on both of them.

Ted,

Based on your posting, I would suspect that the
computer is not the problem. It will just take you a while
to learn the differences between it and your old one. Be
patient. Try Windows "Help". Maybe a "how to" book will
help. Got a friend or "maven" who can show you things?

As far as the printer is concerned, have you tried
looking at HP's website for new XP compatable drivers for
it?

With regards to Dell's help. To be kind, it isn't very
helpful. I too am very disappointed with it. And the
support people in India that Dell has chosen to use are
not only not helpful, they're dangerous.

No, you are not alone. I just bought a Dell 2400 and am
having problems (different ones) and the same experience
as you with tech support - which is clearly coming from
India ir thereabouts.
