Problem: go to a main website (ex. Target)--cannot go further/navigate the
site - I can't explore products, etc. Same happens for my University's
webpage - can get to the home page, but no further. Restarted numerous times
- not helpful. Help!!!

Hi ktdid :-)

Please provide the version of Windows and IE you are using, and more details
of the problem you are having. What happens when to try to navigate further?
Do you get any error messages? If so, what is the exact wording of the
error message? Things like this can give us a better chance to provide more
helpful information for you. :-)

Oops, forgot that!

I'm using Windows XP, v6.0 IE - When I go to a main website, like GA State
University, I am not able to access other sites within that main one - i.e. I
can't check my school email, nor can I access classes that post
correspondence on the web through GA State U. When I try to access these
sites, the top of the page says "Cannot find server" - and on the page, "The
page cannot be displayed."

I have uninstalled and re-installed IE, I've rebooted several times, I've
also checked Folder Options on my computer - made sure to show hidden folders
and NOT hide extensions.

These sites work from another computer on this home network, just not on my
laptop.

Hope someone can help!!

Hi ktdid :-)

Thank you for the additional information. Try the following information and
see if it will help:

SSL not supported - Can't display page

In Internet Explorer -
1. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Scroll down to the Security Settings.
3. Make sure that the two boxes are checked that say
"Enable SSL 2" or "Enable SSL 3".
Try your secure sites.

Another thing you can try is:
Go to start/run
Type in: regsvr32 softpub.dll
Press Enter or click OK

or ...............

Check C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc for a file named HOSTS with no
extension. (Not Hosts.sam)
Make sure Windows is set to show hidden files and folders and is NOT set to

hide extensions for known file types.
If HOSTS exists, rename it to HOSTS.OLD
Reboot an try again.

Or, In a Cmd window, enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear your TIF also, and re-boot.
