My parents computer screen went fussy and yellowish. Monitor is fairly new
and works fine; we plugged it into another computer to test.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Right click on the desktop and choose : Properties

then go to settings, colors

it should normally be set for 16 bit (or higher)

If there is no such option, the video drivers may be corrupted...
if that's the case, a system restore may fox it...
otherwise the video card drivers may have to be reinstalled

Just for interest :
what was running to make it like that ? ( fuzzy and yellowsh )
what was the test bresult ?
 
Thanks for the info

Did the properties right mouse click thing and it all looks fine.

Not sure what was running. Just had the computer on. They mainly surf the
net; email and play card games (the XP ones).

It's an older Dell; not sure if it's an integrated graphics card or not?
Would rather fix then buy new desktop one right now.

Any more suggestions would be great.

You can check to see which slots are available..PCI-E..AGP...PCI....in that
order and buy the Video Card to match.
There are quite a few "reasonably" priced cards on the market.
Usually the installation of a video card disables the onboard video...at the
worst you would need to enter the BIOS and disable then install new card.You
would also need to uninstall old video drivers from within XP before
shutting down and changing cards.

No but on some computers you can add a new card and disable the
integrated one. Check the system's owner manual for details on available
options: the type of expansion slots available, whether the old video
needs to be disabled manually or if it will automatically disable when
new display hardware is detected and so on.
