display wont open, please help!

when i go into control panel, and click display to change my resolution, it wotn open, if u have any idea how to make it work, or any downloads that i could get to help, please respon

What happens if you right-click the desktop, select Properties/Settings
Tab and then the Advanced Button?

Check device manager and verify that the display adapter is correctly
installed, and the correct monitor is also installed.

well, when i rite click on the desktop and hit properties, doesnt open. now, i got a new video card, an nvidia, my monitor is plugged into its output. could the card be the problem? or should do what u said, see if the display thing is correctly installed

New card is the answer. Consult the installation instructions carefully
and see what NVIDIA requires for installation. Follow their
instructions to the letter. Go the their site, select support and see
what kind of information is there, particularly for fixing a failed
installation.

well Q, i called nVIDIA tech support, the guy made me uninstall the driver, if display worked then, it would be nVIDIA's fault, if not, which happened, he said to consult microsoft, which is why i made this thread, any idea what to do now? all i wanna do is change the resolution

Well, I would go to www.nvidia.com and download a new driver for your
card. Again, follow the instructions carefully about how to do the
install.
