Did fresh install of Windows 2000. New partition, full
format, clean install. Everything works fine except for
speakers and display. Can't get Windows to pick up drivers
for either. Tried hardware wizard but no luck. Display
only gives me 16 bit color option and speakers won't work
at all. Monitor is Viewsonic G773, Speakers are some
standard Yamaha speakers. Any ideas?

You need win2k drivers for yr hardware, obtainable from hw device manu site
NOT winupdate.
eg. Sound card/device, graphics card/device
Hopefully you've also installed critical updates

same thing happened to me. I have installed all of the
upgrades as well. I cant get the system to recognize my
display adapter.

I only get the 16 colors. I have an AOC svga monitor

Installed critical updates. Got drivers from manufacturer
sites. Still no luck. Monitors and speakers worked fine
before without having to go find drivers. Something I need
to do during install or in BIOS???

When I tried to install drivers for my Diamond Stealth
III, it said it couldn't even find the video card.

I believe Stealth III was originally supplied with win98 drivers on the
install cd, although Win2k does have inbuilt drivers for Stealth II
I was unable to access Diamond site, for drivers.
I assume Hardware shows graphics device not working.
You've tried to manually install the device using the win2k driver? Followed
any install instructions contained with the driver?
It is sometimes necessary, with a problem graphics driver install, to remove
all the previous graphics drivers, before it will install correctly.
Its a long time since I used Diamond graphics, I dont believe I used it with
win2k
